Thursday, March 26th, 2020 – 7th grade work

Hi 7th graders,

It’s Thursday, which – based on some cursory research – means the ‘day of thunder’ or ‘Thor’s day‘. To me, that means that every Thursday is full of awesome, cosmic potential. What will you choose to do?

If you so choose, you have three items for your Literature / ELA To Do list:

      • Daily Reading (30 – 35 minutes)
      • Daily Journal (10 -15 minutes)
      • Tangerine reading and discussion questions (20 – 30 minutes)

And so we begin…

  1. Daily Reading (30 – 35 minutes: 25 – 30 minutes reading and 5 minutes reflection)
    • I am attempting to review all reading logs and putting reading points into PowerSchool today – please make sure your logs are up to date and complete.
    • Contact me with any questions!
  2. Daily Journal (10 -15 minutes)
    • Prompt: What are the top three things that bring you joy right now? Why do you think they add so much positivity to your day?
  3. Tangerine reading and discussion questions (20 – 30 minutes)
    • New reading schedule:
      • Thank you to those of you who completed the “Tangerine Reading and Discussion Question Feedback” assignment on Teams. It has been very helpful!
      • I’m still waiting to hear from 12 students, so please complete the quick survey as soon as possible.
      • I can’t give you the whole schedule yet, but I can tell you will have more time for reading and questions.
      • Your Part 1 questions are now due Wednesday, April 1, 2020.
        • This means you have five extra days to work on them – hooray!
        • If you are ahead, take it easy today.
        • If you are behind, use this time to catch up.
        • If you are melting in a puddle of stress and confusion – please reach out to us!

Thank you for all of your hard work, feedback, kindness, persistence, humor, struggles, and joy! Distance Teaching is hard, but all of you make it worth the effort and difficulties.

Have a great Thursday!
