Happy summer, everybody!

If you have lost your summer reading list, have no fear! Check out the Summer Resources page (should be off to the left, underneath “Growth Mindset Project”) for directions, lists, links, suggestions, and more.

Remember, you will be writing and presenting on these books, so make sure to take notes and keep them fresh in your mind for fall.

Friday, June 5th, 2020

Good morning 7th graders,

It’s your final catch up day! Here are a few important reminders:

  1. All missing, incomplete, and revised work must be submitted today, June 5th, to earn any credit.
  2. You must send me an email to let me know you have turned something in (especially for reading logs). Otherwise, I will not know to look for your work.
  3. As of right now (8:ooam), all grades are up-to-date and accurate – except for the Online Class assignment, which I am grading right now.
    • If you have not received credit for something you submitted, check if there is feedback in Teams, then email me to let me know about your work.

This is the home stretch, the final countdown! We can do it! (Good luck getting that song out of your head!🤣…but you can use it to psych you up, so it’s kind of a gift 🥳)

I am watching book talks from 9 – 11am, but am available to answer questions at almost any other time. Reach out if you need help!

Thursday, June 4th, 2020 – 7th grade work

Good morning 7th graders,

Your main work today is coming to online class (5 points) and completing the reflection on Teams afterwards (5 points).

  • Review the assignment on Teams before coming to class
  • Arrive to class on time
    • Tice: 9:45am
    • Rezegocki: 10:30am
  • Keep your microphone and camera on so you are ready to participate in discussion
  • Come prepared with any questions
  • After class, finish the reflection on Teams

I have emailed you the invitation to your particular class, and I posted the information for both classes on our team. Let me know if you have questions!

Otherwise, I’ll see you later this morning!

Wednesday, June 3rd, 2020 – 7th grade work

Good morning 7th graders,

Here’s what you need to know about Literature and Language Arts today:

  1. It’s a work day!
    • Use it to keep checking off items on your To Do list
      • If you haven’t already, please share your To Do list with me via Teams – it’s a helpful tool and you get 5 points for it!
    • No new assignments for today
  2. We have online class tomorrow morning, June 4th
    • We will discuss The Outsiders and closing out the school year
      • Tice class begins at 9:45am
      • Rzegocki class begins at 10:30am
  3. You can submit work through Friday, June 5th
    • I realize I used the wrong preposition on some of my feedback, and many of you think Thursday is the deadline for work in Literature and LA – I apologize for the confusion I have created!
    • Good news – anything submitted to me by 11:59pm on Friday, June 5th, will count for credit towards your grade!
    • Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Contact me if you have questions, need help, or want to go over your assignments via video chat! Have a productive day and enjoy the sun 😎.

Tuesday, June 2nd, 2020 – 7th grade work

Good morning 7th graders,

It’s Tuesday of your last full week, which can only mean one thing – it’s really To-Do’s-day! Get it? No? Let me explain!

You are going to use your Literature and Language Arts time today to create and then follow through on your personal To Do list.

  • Do you have missing or incomplete work? Put it on the list!
  • Avoiding writing an email to a teacher? Put it on the list!
  • Lost your textbooks and class novels somewhere in your house? Put it on the list!

I think you get the idea, so I’ll post your other work for today. You have three tasks for Literature/LA:

  • Complete “End-of-Year To Do List” assignment on Teams (different for each student)
  • Finish The Outsiders for 6/3 (10 – 20 minutes)
  • Set alarm for online class on Thursday, 6/4/2020 (2 – 3 minutes)

Let’s go!

  1. Complete “End-of-Year To Do List” assignment on Teams (different for each student)
    • Go on Teams
    • Review the assignment
    • Make and submit your To Do list to me!
    • Worth 5 points
  2. Finish The Outsiders for 6/3 (10 – 20 minutes)
    • Chapter 12, the final chapter, is due tomorrow
    • What a wild ride it’s been!
  3. Set alarm for online class on Thursday, 6/4/2020 (2 – 3 minutes)
    • We will have online class on Thursday, 6/4/2020
      • Tice at 9:45am
      • Rzegocki at 10:30am
    • To ensure that you are on time and ready to go, set as many reminders and alarms as you need

Contact me if you have questions or need help. Have a productive To-Do’s-day!

Monday, June 1st, 2020 – 7th grade work

Good morning 7th graders,

It’s your last full week of school as a 7th grader! If you’re like me, you might be feeling a bit like this…

My Emotions GIFs | Tenor…or…Creative Qualms: The Emotional Rollercoaster Of Artistic Processes ...

…and possibly a little of this…

Emotional Rollercoaster GIF | Gfycat

Or, perhaps you’re in a completely different emotional state. Whatever emotional rollercoaster you’re riding, it’s almost over for the school year. Take this week to close out all your loose ends and finish strong. You’re almost there!

(Did I use that as an excuse for some gif fun? Yes, yes I did. Do I regret it? As Edith Piaf once famously sang, “No, I regret nothing!”)

As many of you may have noticed, several grades went into the PowerSchool over the weekend. I am finishing up with the last outstanding items this morning. Please check Teams and PowerSchool – you already know if you did the work or not, but now you can see how your efforts have affected your grade.

🌟IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTS🌟

  • You do NOT need to complete Reading Log entries this week! Focus on catching up, if you have need.
  • I appreciate your patience with the grading cycle, so I am giving all of you the chance to review your grades and my feedback, revise your work (reading log entries, favorite journals, questions from The Outsiders…pretty much everything but quizzes and book talks), and resubmit for additional credit.
    • Here are the rules:
      1. Must be turned in by Friday, June 5th, at the latest
      2. Send me an email telling me what you have resubmitted, so I know where to look

Okay, now onto today’s work! You have two items for your Literature /LA To Do List and one possible item for your Finishing-the-Year-Strong List:

  • Chapter 10 + 11 Questions for The Outsiders (9 minutes)
  • Favorite Journal Entry for Week 10 (3 – 5 minutes)
  • Review and resubmit your work for additional credit (varies from student to student)

Let’s get started!

  1. Chapter 10 + 11 Questions for The Outsiders (9 minutes)
    • Complete the assignment “Chapter 10 + 11 Questions for The Outsiders” on Teams
      • Choose TWO of the ten questions – one from each chapter
      • Answer them thoughtfully using complete sentences and text evidence (quotes).
      • Include the original question in your response
    • Make sure to attach your work before hitting the submit button on Teams
    • Remember to hit the submit button!
    • Contact me if you have any questions!
    • REMINDER – I did not post questions for chapter 9. You are not missing them – hooray!
  2. Favorite Journal Entry for Week 10 (3 – 5 minutes)
    • Choose your favorite entry from Week 10 (May 25th – 31st), explain why it’s your favorite, and share both items on Teams.
    • Make sure you take time to explain your choice.
    • If you need help submitting on Teams, please contact me before emailing your entry!
  3. Review and resubmit your work for additional credit (varies from student to student)
    • Review your work, revise, and resubmit!
    • You can still earn full credit on reading logs, Outsiders questions, and journal entries.
    • Submit your work by June 5th and send me an email to let me know where to look!
    • Contact me if you have questions or concerns.

Side request for sunglasses – I still need three sunglasses, so if you’re extra creative and interested in making more, please let me know as soon as you can!

I will have office hours today on Teams, after Book Talk presentations. Stop by if you have any questions or concerns. Reach out if you need help and have a magnificent Monday!
